The issue with Fad Diets is that they target weight loss. When you read that statement, you probably thought, great! However, the problem is, it targets total weight loss. The first loss of weight you most likely will experience is water weight, up to 20 lbs in a week, depending on the individual. First, that weight will come back. Second, and more importantly, your body needs water! The second loss of weight most often lost is waste in the intestines. Lastly, you will start losing fat, not just fat; lean muscle. At the end of the fad diet, while you may be at the number you wanted to hit on the scale, your body composition and fat percentage will, unfortunately, be higher than when you started. The worst part is that almost everyone who goes on a Fad Diet, then off it, gains the weight back.
